Hi,
when I try to start Kubuntu I get the GRUB list, I select recovery mode (or any other) and I get the following message:
Quote:
Boot from (hs1,0) ext3 [then a serial number]
Error 16: Inconsistent filesystem structure
Ive tried loading the Live CD and mounting a drive but all devices can't be mounted.

Hi, I'm trying to mount my failing NTFS hard drive (now RAW) as read-only so I can image or clone it with ddrescue. When I try to use ddrescue it does nothing and reports 0 bytes rescued.

Seemed to solve this problem by mounting his input drive. But I don't know what filesystem type to specify when mounting the disk.
I've been trying to mount a second hard drive into Ubuntu. I've been following this guide and a few others that are essentially the same. Everything's going fine until I try to add a file or folder to the mounted drive - I'm then getting permissions errors.
The guides I've looked at seem to suggest you only need the correct permissions for the folder you're mounting into (/mnt/sdb) in my case.
I am having some issues with mounting on my Karmic install. I have two drives - a 500GB Samsung internal, and a 320GB Samsung internal mounted in an external USB enclosure. My goal is to have them both setup and run a backup/sync of both OS and data once a week to the external 320GB so if my internal HDD ever dies I can just pull the internal one out and slide the spare one in and away I go.
Hi, I'd like to start off by saying I'm very new to both Ubuntu and web-programming in general.
I tried set-up fstab for auto-moutning my ext4 drive:
/dev/sdb /media/vitaly/ ext4 auto,exec,rw 0 0
But Lubuntu can't start with this parameters: Mounting error: press S to skip mounting this device.
What is my problem? I have three internal ext4 drive - after every restart I need push every device in PCManFM and enter password for mounting.
I am with Ubuntu 10.04 for quite some time now. I have a dual boot system with default-dell-win-vista that i rarely use. I access windows drives by mounting them in Ubuntu.
What I do: Go to "Places" ==> click on win-drive ==> It gets mounted in /media/some-name and comes to desktop also.
Now I want to understand how that works. I have no rules related to it in udev.
Hello All,
