I had a recent Ubuntu install that stopped working after some packages were upgraded so I decided to take the opportunity to install Kubuntu (and keep my /home and several other partitions) and just replace my old / and /usr partitions with Kubuntu instead of fixing what was wrong with them. The installer, with manual partition management, didn't give me that option...
Ok i've gotten as far as installing the hypersense nova zip from clockworkmod recovery after i formatted and wiped everything. partitioned with hboot 220-10-206, set sd-ext to 1gb and 0 swap. but here is where i'm stuck at..
My primary hard drive is a solid state 120 GiB with the following partitions: 1 MiB Bios Boot, 20 GiB root, 32 GiB SWAP, 68 GiB /home. I have a second hard drive that is 2 TiB that is mounted to /mnt/data currently. However, I would like the documents, pictures, music, and videos links in my file folder to be directed to that drive.
I am having some issues with mounting on my Karmic install. I have two drives - a 500GB Samsung internal, and a 320GB Samsung internal mounted in an external USB enclosure. My goal is to have them both setup and run a backup/sync of both OS and data once a week to the external 320GB so if my internal HDD ever dies I can just pull the internal one out and slide the spare one in and away I go.
I've been trying to mount a second hard drive into Ubuntu. I've been following this guide and a few others that are essentially the same. Everything's going fine until I try to add a file or folder to the mounted drive - I'm then getting permissions errors.
The guides I've looked at seem to suggest you only need the correct permissions for the folder you're mounting into (/mnt/sdb) in my case.
