I always have to keep an application open I copied text from to paste the text somewhere. In fact the copied text will be saved to Klipper (if Klipper is on) after it has been copied. But why cannot a simple shortcut Ctrl + V be used to paste the copied text?
OS: Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS, KDE version: 4.4.5
I need to be able to paste specified text (eg. using ctrl-V, to web form fields), without having selected that text somewhere else and copied it beforehand.
For example, every web form known to man requires you to enter your email address.
Hello
My klipper doesn't allow me to copy text from one program to another. For example if I want to copy a url across from my browser into kate, I copy the text out of the url, then I right click and paste into kate and instead of pasting the url into kate the last thing I copied in kate is then repasted into kate.
Any help in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Adding URxvt.keysym.M-c: perl:clipboard:copy
URxvt.keysym.M-v: perl:clipboard:paste
URxvt.keysym.M-C-v: perl:clipboard:paste_escaped allows me to successfully copy text from urxvt to the X-Clipboard (and then paste into Chromium using ctrl-v or shift-insert). However, I'm looking for a way that doesn't require the extra step of issuing the M-v command.
Is there any command to print a copied text to the terminal? I intend to write a script that puts whatever is copied to a specific file. Thanks for your time !
I have Fedora 17 GNOME installed on my Asus 1015PX. *On October 8, 2012, I copied my medical files from my HP flashdrive to my 8 GB Mcro SD card. The next day, I opened the files on my micro SD card. My text files and PDF files inside of five folders did not get copied.
I am running a ubuntu 12.04 64 bit system with cinnamon 1.6.
Some keyboard shortcuts such as ctrl+a for select all and ctrl+w for close tab do not seem to work in text editors and text fields.
On pressing ctrl+a the cursor just moves to the 1st character of the text field. however ctrl+a does work elsewhere like in nautilus, firefox (non text fields).
Hello,
I'm recently experiencing usability problems with my KDE 4.3 always up to date. My system is becoming really difficult to use as I'm also a Windows user.
Here are my troubles:
*URL highlighting
Wherever in my system I higlight a URL with my mouse, a pop-up window appears asking me to open that URL in Firefox, or send its link via Thunerbird.
There are many clipboard managers available.
The first one I used, I found out if messes clipboard history if clipboard contents was multiline - which I found to be very lame and naive
Second one which I use now is also faulty - I wanted recent clipboard content and I found it's not present in history.
