Hey all, go easy on me if I'm making a noob mistake.
I am dual booting Win7/Kubuntu 12.10 using Grub2. All on a single drive, all partitions seem to be correct, using the 64bit version. I can boot from the USB key just fine but not from the disk after selecting Kubuntu from Grub.
After installing off of a live cd (via USB) grub was not working so I ran boot-repair selecting recommended fixes.
System: Toshiba Satellite laptop: specs: Intel Pentium Dual Core 1.7 GHz, mobile Intel 965 GPU , 2 GB RAM - with Windows Vista Home Premium.
I've been dual-booting Kubuntu and Windows 7 for a couple of weeks and I've been able to boot into Kubuntu just fine until this afternoon. Now when I choose Kubuntu's entry, instead of the regular bootloader I get the grub prompt screen saying "Minimal BASH-like line editing is supported.", etc.
I am using Sony Vaio VPCCW15FN/R model..I am running Live Ubuntu 12.10 using USB.The problem I am facing is that after booting, in Ubuntu i am unable control brightness.I can control volume using Fn key shortcut but not brightness..i got to know that its Nvidia Graphics card issue..Due to extreme brightness, I am getting lots of stretch on my eyes..Please help ASAP..Thanks in advance.!
After checking out some distros, I decided that the Kubuntu variant was the one for me.
Hello there,
I installed Kubuntu 12.04 from ISO DVD and it was installed on a partition without ID letter "like C,D..." and was showing many options on reboot but Windows 7 was the last in the list.
I'm having issues installing Kubuntu 8.04 on an iMac G3 (Slotloader, PPC). I installed the PowerPC version, loaded it onto a disc, and can boot it up no problems. But once I get to yaboot, everything goes wrong. I press enter to boot 'live'. Once it says, "Loading, please wait..." the Mac shuts down. I try typing live-powerpc, and it shuts down.
I just finished installing Kubuntu 12.04.1 on my laptop, which already had Windows 7 installed. The Windows boot partition is sda1; the Kubuntu boot partition is (or is supposed to be) sda6. The installation had a couple of minor burps that I didn't worry about. But now, when I reboot, I get into Windows rather than Kubuntu.
Hi, I just bought a 500 gß HDD (Seagate 7200 spin, SATA), with the goal of loading my media on it, to be read both by Win 7 and Kubuntu. The drive would not format in Win 7, so I used Gparted in Kubuntu Live to try and format the drive. Originially formatted to NTFS, but upon rebooting windows, it said the drive was write protected.
