Was there a recent alsa or audio update? I had my sound working perfectly, but I did a apt-get update and apt-get upgrade yesterday. Since then I haven't been able to get sound out of my headphone jack. The laptop speakers mute like they should when plugging into the jack, but then I get nothing out of the headphones. mixer shows there should be sound and I've tri

Hello guys,
Here is the issue:
suddently my headphones stopped working on my s3: no sound from headphones and no notification icon.
I tried to clean it, tried other headphones, nothing worked, the sound kept just coming out from the speaker.
I then changed the whole piece (speaker headphone and microphone) but nothing changed, the sound just kept coming out from the speakers.

No sound comes out of my right speaker. I tried turning the volume all the way up in Alsa mixer for the relevant channels (I can't remember exactly which ones but I followed the steps in the installation guide). This happens with both my laptop speakers and my external speakers (they connect to the headphone jack but they aren't really headphones).
On my system, the sound works perfectly fine on the speakers in my laptop. When i plug in headphones, the sound comes out of the headphones AND speakers. It doesn't seem to recognize whether the headphones are plugged in or not. It actually doesn't seem to recognize that there are any headphone inputs at all.
I installed Ubunut 12.04 64 bit, and it seems I can not adjust volume separately for headphones and laptop speakers.
If I plug my headphones in, I can hear sound through my headphones AND my speakers.
Hey all,
I recently bought a Packard Bell Dot MA 11.6" notebook, which has been fantastic in every regard. I've used it with headphones a few times before, but have never noticed that when headphones are plugged in, audio randomly comes out of the speakers in sharp bursts.
