I am already a little bit familiar with Linux distros like Debian or Ubuntu (yeah, very similar) but I wanted to try Red Hat based - CentOS 6.2 . I have installed it on my Windows 7 host in virtualBox and tried to play with it a little.
I have same across a small problem, namely : the default eth0 interface is down by default.
I have a question just in case someone else is running the same hardware/software combination as I am: I'm not sure since when, as I usually connect via wireless, but recently I had the need to use my netbook in a wired network and it would have intermittent connectivity while using the ethernet (Atheros chipset, which has had been very well supported for the longest time - Fedora 12 and up).
Well, machine delivered today, CentOS 6.2 installed fine however it's not recognising the built in Realtek/Atheros GbE LAN chip. No time to dig into it at the moment so might just shove a Real... [by arthurhanlon]
