I am having issue running kismet, I installed it and my wireless adapter for my laptop, could you please assist how should i configure. whenever I start kismet I get ( connection refused error). Thank you
I am kind of new to Ubuntu, and I had nothing wrong until I upgraded my system to Ubuntu 13.10. While the upgrading process I got an error msg that kismet can not be downloaded, and when I figured out that it is a sniffing tool I thought that I will not need it anyway.
This Kismet tutorial provides a basic framework for using Kismet drones.
Kismet is an 802.11 wireless network detector, sniffer, and intrusion
detection system. Kismet will work with any wireless card which
supports raw monitoring mode, and can sniff 802.11b, 802.11a, 802.11g,
Wireless network security flaws are well documented but often very hard for the common person to understand. I will be showing you how to use kismet with out even having to install Linux, or compile kismet.
I know it has been asked many times, but is there a Netstumbler type application that I can use that isn't kismet? I installed kismet and found out that my card apparently doesn't work because it can't be put in monitor mode (using ndiswrapper; I have a Belkin F5D8010 w/ Airgo chip).
