I need to know on Linux when a user press a key or use a button of his
mouse even when my app is not in focus. I only successed in writing a program that listen to an event when the window is in focus using xSelectInput.
The problem is that I can have these events only if I make a client

I still don't know if this would run in X or not - I'm not familiar with the game.But looking into this, I see many options for using a joystick is to have the joystick generate keyboard events that are then interpreted by the game. Then your question would be irrelevant as you don't need to emulate a joystick with the keyboard as the joystick itself is emulating a keyboard.I
Could someone provide a flowchar or something to show the flow of data in a windows or linux system when it comes to mouse/keyboard events?
I can write programs using APIs to capture input events/etc but I don't really understand how that information is stored or how much abstraction is between the actual input events and accessing an api.
I am using Qt 4.8.3 on a small ARM embedded Linux device with a touchscreen. I have my touchscreen configured with tslib and calibrated it so there is a pointercal file in /etc/. The locations of my touch events work just fine but no matter what I get a QEvent for Mouse Move before Mouse Press or Mouse Release Events.
I'm trying to bring up virtual terminal on our embedded system's LCD usnig USB keyboard which is also connected to the system. I have UART connection to my PC so I've been using UART for console till now but I want to switch to framebuffer console on LCD after boot at some point..
The USB host controller seems to work fine because I've seen USB memory is attached, read and written ok.
