My wife's unbranded S2 was recently upgraded to JB but the rom is not so good as was the ICS one.
Could you please recommend me good kernel or rom + kernel which is good on the battery life?
Does the s2 needs to be rooted and have a custom recovery to flash another kernel etc. - I never worked with Samsung so I am not sure...
Thanks for any advice!
I want to build a linux kernel from kernel.org, add a bootloader (I've heard that GRUB is a good choice but I'm open to other options) and convert that to an iso image that I can put on a usb drive and boot from. So far I've not been able to find a good tutorial on this or a good example on how to do this.
Guys I have rooted my s3 since I didnt even putted sim in it.
I have flashed many custom roms and kernel.
some are good and some are very laggy and slow.
Also the performance and battery life on some custom rom and kernel are not very good.
I want someone to guide me with a perfect combination of custom ROM and Custom Kernel which has great performance and very good battery life.
Was wireless working before you built the new kernel? Why did you try building a new kernel?Have you tried the kernel from backports? Try that before you build a new kernel, unless you have a very good reason not to.http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=394685
There is a bug with these kernels with DTMF when calling to banks and ect... (AVR problem)
Example: When i press 9 digits them receive 10 or 11 or 12 digits
It's annoying a lot. I can not self identify in the AVR systems
Now using Dorimanx kernel 5.62 it's OK but... there is a bug...
I have seen in some version of Ubuntu that instead of making a huge change to update to the latest kernel, they take some of the good stuff out of it, for the sake of stability and put it on a previous version.
In this case, kernel 3.3 has seen some very good power management enhancements that are not all found in the kernel 3.2.
