Hi, running a System76 Lemur 3 with an i7 sandybridge.
Hello....
My dmesg is full of this:
Code:
[ 5497.150222] ehci_hcd 0000:00:1d.0: setting latency timer to 64
[ 5794.635345] CPU1: Package power limit notification (total events = 1127)
[ 5794.635348] CPU2: Package power limit notification (total events = 1129)
[ 5794.635349] CPU0: Package power limit notification (total events = 1129)
[ 5794.635350] CPU3: Package power limit notifica
I'm getting "Package power limit notification" errors every few hours, I've tried googling to figure out what exactly they mean but really can't find anything that suggests... [by optize]
I recently tried to boot my Kubuntu 12.04 LTS on my Sandy Bridge Laptop with i915.i915_enable_rc6=1, i915.i915_enable_fbc=1 and i915.lvds_downclock=1. Since the resolution was not set correctly, I just tried it again with i915.i915_enable_rc6=1, i915.i915_enable_fbc=1. Then I rebooted and did not set any options manually, so everything should be reset.
I upgraded my T420 thinkpad to kernel 3.6.9-1-ARCH and today realized that the battery life is only around 2 hours (usually I get 6 with a 6-cell battery). Is anyone else having problems with unusually high power consumption on this kernel? My temporary solution was to downgraded the kernel to 3.6.8-1-ARCH. I'll keep "IgnorePkg = linux linux-headers" until the next kernel
Has anyone noticed bigger power consumption (reduced battery time)/temperatures on laptops (preferably with i915 gpu) with kernel > 3.7.3 ? Is it only my idea?

Hey guys, I'd appreciate any help with this, as I have very little experience with LVM, LUKS, and Fedora in general.
I tried to add a few boot options to my kernel, so I edited /etc/defaults/grub, and ran grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/efi/EFI/redhat/grub.conf (which appeared to be the GRUB configuration file ot update).
The options I added were: "fastboot i915.i915_enable_rc6=1 i915.i915_ena
my computer occasionally randomly shutdown down. It happens especially while watching video on youtube or just a video through vlc.
It nmever did this before and even does it on windows ( I dual boot windows and 11.04)
The only clue I have is that, suddenly, the fan will start spinning really hard, becoming quite audible for 4 seconds and then it's off.
I had the i915 module in the initrd and after the upgrade the system was crashing right after the grub screen, it took a little to find the culprit :-) I removed the module from mkinitcpio.conf and the system boots but crashes when the udev attempts to load the module.
