http://crunchbang.org – What you're looking for isn't "picture editing" software.  It's "video editing" software.Video editing is hit or miss on Linux in general.The most straight forward is probably Openshot.  Also based on the same libraries but a little less intuitive is Kdenlive.If neither of those work for you there are several other video editing programs like Kino and pitivi, but last I checked they were even more crashy than the two above.The most stable and powerful video editor is Blender, but it has a huge learning curve, and is primarily made for 3d animation, (HowTos)
