I have a problem. I deleted some gnome packages , and now Ubuntu won't work as it should.
Plus i installed some programs for system tweak(new look of icons etc) and delete them and only left Ubuntu Tweak . I log in system and i cross with mouse over icons in slide-bar and name of icons stays but won't go away ... and desktop picture won't show up ...
I've just installed 11.3 and this is my first real use of KDE4.
I like the fact that the Desktop folder appears in its own window distinct from the desktop itself. I've noticed, however, that the icons for images (previews) are "smudged" and do not resemble the images at all. Has anyone else experienced this?
based on my past experience, it usualy happen because plasma* related config mess up.just remove or (better) renaming this files.~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktop-appletsrc~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-desktoprc~/.kde4/share/config/plasma-windowed-appletsrc~/.kde4/share/config/plasmarcsome files maybe dont exist on your box, just ignore it.
As the title suggests, my desktop icons don't show on the desktop after I upgraded to 12.10 from 12.04. Also, I can't right-click on the desktop - no menu appears. Everything else seems OK though. What could it be?
If I open Nautilus, my desktop icons and files are still there in my Desktop folder.
I have a 4 monitor setup with xinerama in seperate X windows. I installed gdm and got rid of the big mouse icon. Somewhere along the way though, icons got screwy. Whenever I try and move them, I have to drag my mouse down for a while. Then the icon appears near the top of the monitor.
