I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 11.10 to 12.04. My Samson C01U USB microphone, which has worked for many years on Ubuntu, now is having problems.
The symptom is as follows. After a reboot, the microphone works as expected. Recording with Audacity is fine. Then, after some indeterminate amount of time, the microphone disappears from the system.
I have an Ubuntu GNU/Linux user friend that was trying to get her microphone working for Google Voice and Video Chat and she couldn't figure it out. So I recorded a short video that talks about changing settings in Ubuntu "Sound Preference" to get your microphone working. With a little bit of faith and tinkering, you should be able to get your microphone working perfectly.
Hi everybody,
I am new here, and I have a Fedora 9 on a VGN-FZ38M Sony Vaio. At first neither earphones or microphone were working. I solved the earphone problem following the instructions in one of the discussions, here, but I could not find anything for microphone. Any tips?
Thanks,Francesca
I cant use the microphone in my ubuntu 12.10.
I don't know at all what it the reason.
My sound settings input tab displays some device, but I am not sure if that is my microphone.
I use the skype test call to test if the mic is working but I never hear my voice.
Why I can't use my microphone? what is missing?
Besides the problem in this thread, I have one other.
The integrated microphone on my netbook doesn't work.
HI! I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on my Acer Aspire 6530G. It has a ALC888 sound card. The loudspeakers work well, but the micorphone doesn't works. I tried to check if microphone was muted (alsamixer), I increased the microphone volume to the max value but nothing changed. Can anyone help me?
Sorry for my English, I'm Italian :(
Using 12.04.
My microphone is not working, so I'm unable to use my headset microphone with the program Audio-Recorder. However the microphone part of my Logitech Pro 9000 webcam works correctly. I'm working with a Dell Inspiron B130. Adding line options snd-hda-intel model=laptop-amic to alsa-base.conf as suggested in another post was made without success.
I installed 12.10 on an Acer AOD250 machine, and it works really well(far better than I thought).
But the Mic is still acting a little odd.
I open the sound settings and the microphone there picks up nothing, along with Skype, though I ran Audacity and it gave me an option to choose the Mic(HDA Intel: ALC272) and it works just fine.
I opened alsamixer and turned the Mic up from there and it still
I just bought my new netbook Acer Aspire One 722. It works fine on Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit version. Everything works good beyond microphone (external and internal). Internal works middling because it's very silent (despite the fact that in alsamixer is set to maximum, You can do something about it ?) and external doesn't work at all. When I connect external mic simply nothing happens.
