Hey i have recently started using kde 4.x. I am trying to find out where are some kde 3.x feautures and how i can use them under kde 4.x
To be more specific:
I am using 11.10 on a dual boot machine, and recently I was playing around with ccsm(compiz manager). To enable the desktop cube effect, I disabled the Desktop wall plugin. A popup came up, i dont remember exactly but it asked to disable all plugins, and I selected OK. My taskbar vanished and realizing this I enabled the plugin again.
Now the unity and all the options from my taskbar are gone!

gnome desktop
I run Virtualbox (v3.1.4) to continue using os/2 for a couple of non-portable applications. VB has a habit of crashing linux on occasion: a complete system freeze. (Reported to VBox developers, ignored so far.)
hi,
on my Fedora 16 LXDE dual-screen setup, desktop icons appear as duplicates on both screens ...?!
Hello there!i think i cant really help you, because i have the same problem with some of my apps and it seem nearly impossible to find out where the icon tint uses is comming from.I wanted to change several icons showed in the taskbar and sometimes it was helpful to change the icon inside the .desktop-file, sometimes i replaced the icons in the icon folder of /usr/share/applications/DESIEREDAPP an
I've been having problems recently with the functionality of the taskbar. While researching it, I came across a post by etienoo, from just a few hours ago. The weird thing is that I am using Gnome and etienoo is using xfce. My problem is that the task bar stays empty. I have a task bar, but when I start a new application nothing appears on the taskbar showing that something is running.
Installed 12.10 from LiveDVD on Dell desktop that ran Ubuntu in original machine. It boots to plain desktop with icons carried over from 12.04, but no Dash or menu and no taskbars. Help!
As the title suggests, my desktop icons don't show on the desktop after I upgraded to 12.10 from 12.04. Also, I can't right-click on the desktop - no menu appears. Everything else seems OK though. What could it be?
If I open Nautilus, my desktop icons and files are still there in my Desktop folder.
Hi, i have been using ubuntu 9.04 since june09. But i have an issue.
Whenever I insert any cd in cd drive, the desktop disappears while the taskbar is there. No icons on desktop. It seems ubuntu is trying to read cd or whatever, but desktop icons disappear!
Then i press Crtl+alt+backspace with cd still inside, but login window appears.
