I installed Jaunty from scratch (minimal install CD) for the first time, but I wimped out a little and installed gdm and gnome-core to make it familiar and quicker. I want to make another partition and start from scratch again but using lighter software - probably lxde and/or iceWM.

I have a Windows laptop, but I like to use Linux as a development/coding environment. Currently I am currently running Ubuntu 12.04 as a guest OS with VirtualBox. Some of the issues with this setup are:
