KDE 3.5 openSUSE 11.1 does the newest "release" still work?

http://forums.opensuse.org – If I did understand well, the 3.5 repositories are not maintained anymore for all versions due to the will to avoid dispersion of resources. Did anybody by chance try to install the latest release of KDE 3.5 available of these repositories, which version number is it, and did you have had any nuisance with it? Thanks. (Distributions)

I realize the KDE Package repositories listed at KDE/Repositories - openSUSE are not officially supported by OS. But they are a complete mess AFAICS.

This release is now feature complete and also the API should be final by now. Biggest changes since beta 1 are:

KDE SC 4.3.5 is about to become available for openSUSE 11.2 as an online update (from 4.3.1). I have seen that when a new Ubuntu version is released, sometimes a particular application that I had used till the previous Ubuntu versions would have been removed from the Ubuntu repositories for the latest release. Hi all,

I have openSUSE 11.1 and Thunderbird version 2.0.

However I want to install Thunderbird 3 and I want to do so with YAST.

So I : YAST --->Software repositories

which gives me a screen with on the right hand side :

opensuse-11.1-non-oss opensuse-11.1-oss opensuse-11.1-Update opensuse-11.1-0

Why are packages in the official Ubuntu repositories older than the latest (upstream) versions from Debian Sid, PPAs, the authors, etc.?
