Under Ubuntu with Wine and under Windows World of Warcraft will crash to a black screen at random times. I can still hear sound, the computer doesn't seem to lock up, but the screen just goes black and requires a hard reboot to get it back.
I am running the latest Ubuntu on my acer 8572G, with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphic card and actually the computer is always very hot. Today it started to become more problematic when the screen suddenly showed this:
After reboot it worked again for quarter of an hour, than again crash, and I stopped trying to ask for help...

Hi all,
I have Ubuntu 9.10 running on Lenovo T61. I am running it from external HD. When I close the laptop monitor and then open it, the PC would enter sleep mode and if I try to power it up, it would either crash or would not let me go beyond credential page.
Is it normal?
Hello,I've quite often (like once a day) a full crash of gnome shell. It can happens when I switch of window or desktop (or at least, it's the moment I noticed the crash). I can still move the mouse and have the sound if I was listening to music but no actions (click, keyboard) works.
This happened a few days ago, figured I might as well post about it to let people know. I installed Statler, and under the Window Manager section of the XFCE settings, selecting the very last theme (called simply "XFCE") caused my computer to crash. The screen went blank, and I was brought back to the login screen. After trying to log back in, I got a flicker of text (t
dear all:
"system crash" means that:
(1)I can ping it , but can not connect to it (via ssh or http or anything else)
(2)the major role of that machine is to run a web application written in java, every 3 weeks(almost that), the users inform us and say they can log in that web application , and we find the situation just like (1) says.
When this happen , we can only restart the machine
About an hour ago, my screen suddenly went nearly black (black but still powered on) and no key sequences like ctrl-alt-f1 did anything. The only way out that still somehow worked was pressing and holding the power button, resulting in a shutdown. I don't know why it happened. I had 5 tabs open in Firefox, and two Leafpads open, so it could have been a lot of things.

I am using Ubuntu 12.10 on a tosh nb 305. All is stable until I attach my nec multisync LCD 195vxm+ and I have no end of troubles with running two displays. Mirror mode works fine but when this is turned off the system will often crash and freeze. I think it is a toshiba display driver issue but I don't know enough of Linux to fix. Any ideas or thoughts welcome
