I bought a single 8GB stick the other day at Microcenter for a mini-ITX build I'm doing for a family member, but as time has gone by waiting for a few other parts from Amazon its bugging me more and more that the system is (so far) going to be single channel.
Is the bandwidth hit going to be large enough to be real concerned about?
My old laptop is from 2007 and isn't really good for much anymore past looking up information when my PC dies or when I go out of state. Since my girlfriend is getting into gaming more and more, I'd like to have a decent gaming laptop at my disposal so I don't have to buy a second set of peripherals for my old gaming rig.
I've recently bought a new laptop (Lenovo IdeaPad Z710, Windows 8 preinstalled) to help me with my various thesis work. Since most neuroimaging tools were written for a UNIX OS, I need this laptop to have Ubuntu. A virtual box inside windows won't cut it.
