I have developed a mobile application that uses Google Maps Android API v1, and I plan to port it to the recent Google Maps Android API v2, as recommended by Google.
However, my application also targets Android 2.1 devices, and I cannot figure out whether the v2 Maps will run on such devices.

Indoor mapping should see a huge boom over the next year and Google Maps will most likely lead the way. They just added indoor maps and walking directions for 22 popular U.S. museums. Google Maps crashes on me when I use Google Navigation now. Maps is also acting funny even when not navigating. My phone is stock with basic apps and I have never had any issues like this with Android.
Please post up if your Google Navigation and Maps work as they did with ICS.

Yesterday Google released an update to the Google Maps for Android app to make it more useful. Perhaps the biggest change involves syncing between mobile devices and the desktop browser version of Google Maps. When signed in to Google Maps with web history enabled, you will get search and directions history synced to your mobile device.
Apple is launching iOS 6 today and one of the changes that will likely spark a lot of discussion is the new Maps app that does away with Google Maps and replaces it with Apple’s own (and by most accounts inferior) mapping solution. Google, of course, isn’t sitting still, and as the New York Times reports, Google Maps for Android is set to get an update later today.
