Hi All,
I have an ftp process that is connecting to a Solaris server and pushing files into a directory. The default file permissions are rw-r--r-- . I want the file permissions to be rw-rw-r--. How can I configure the directory so any file created there will have the permissions rw-rw-r-- ?
Thanks
*Note the permissions on the directory are drwxrwxr-x
:)

I am trying to run the jar file on linux created from windows using jdk7 .
I am using the following command to run the
java -jar jarfile.jar
its running the jar and throwing the exception as un recognised class format version. because linux is showing the java version as 1.4.2 while i have extracted the jdk1.7 in the root directory but it is still taking the java version as 1.4.2 .
I have a directory on a Solaris box that has 58 files written to it every 15min. They have a non standard date as part of the file name but always have another name with it. I need to check that directory for files created within the last 15min and then port the results to a log file. There are thousands of files but should only be and up to 58 within the last 15min.
I'm trying to port some code over from a Solaris box onto a Linux (specifically Redhat) box.
I have found photrec to retrieve lost data i have downloaded the file extracted it in windows then uploaded the extracted files to the linux systemwhen i run the program I get an permissions ... [by mark38]
This is NOT your standard "how do permissions work" question!
I'm thinking the answer will probably involve ACL, but I don't know how exactly.
I've messed around with standard permissions, guid, sticky bit, etc. Doesn't work.
What I want:
User will upload files. User will have ability to change permissions on files to allow execution.
TLDR version: Given a normal use of fileserver.conf, how do I build a puppet URL that will actually work?
.
I'm trying to get started with Puppet and a few virtual instances. For a first task, I'm trying to distribute an authorized_keys file using the file type.
I am trying to run skype on F17_x64
I am not quite there yet although I am pretty sure this is doable...
First things first:
wget http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-static
The file downloaded was skype_static-4.0.0.7.tar.bz2 .
Extracted the "skype" binary and copied it in /usr/bin
sounds/, lang/ and avatars/ were copied into newly created /usr/share/skype directory
