http://askubuntu.com – I've been having an issue with clicking and dragging icons and windows on my desktop. What ends up happening is I will click and hold on an icon and begin to drag it. The icon does not move. I let go of the mouse button, click on it again, and it immediately opens up (almost like it was double clicked). Application windows have a similar issue, I will grab the title bar and grab it (to move it around the screen or to another monitor) and it won't move. I click the title bar again and the window will maximize itself (again, much like it was double clicked). I am running Ubuntu 12.10, du (HowTos)

This is quite annoying. For some reason I can not hold anything with my mouse.

For example.

I can not drag a window by holding its title bar. I can not move the scroll bar of any window by mouse. I can not even select text Alt+Click on a window does not move it.

All these tasks are related to dragging. And this dragging is not working.

On OSX I use Zooom2 to move my windows around with keyboard shortcuts and mouse motion. This operates in a very similar manner to Ubuntu, with the following difference:

On Zooom2, I have it set so holding down Shift + Cmd when the cursor is over a window and dragging the mouse moves said window.

I am having very strange mouse behavior since I installed Chakra.

Jittery/shakey... I don't know exactly what word to use. English isn't my first language.

But when I keep my finger still on the touchpad, the mouse pointer seems to keep moving rapidly within a tiny square area.

Following installation of Ubuntu 12.04 over a previous install of 10.04, I have found odd behaviour in the Fluxbox windows manager. If I 'tab' two windows together (as one can in Fluxbox) I cannot change focus from one tabbed window to another using the mouse. To focus on the other window I have to use the alt-tab method with the keyboard.

Hi, I'm having an issue with Guitarix, a guitar effects program. It has knobs that you click and drag to change the values like gain, treble, distortion, etc. In KDE, when I click and drag the button, The whole program window moves and the focus on the knob I am trying to adjust is lost. When I release the mouse button and move the mouse around, the knob value changes, but it is very erratic.

Hey folks, I have a system with three screens running Ubuntu 11.10 86_64. Those screens are located next to each other and the X-Server is configured with Xinerama. The screen in the middle is the main screen and all desktop-icons are located on the left one by default (files, links, ...). If I want to move one of these icons to another screen, I try to drag and drop those.

I'm running into issues where if I have two applications running, where one is smaller and in the foreground, and I click on the window in the background, it does not move into the foreground. For example, if I have a terminal window on top of Firefox, and I click on the webpage in the background, Firefox gains focus but the terminal is still visible on top of Firefox.

I am trying out live xubuntu on my samsung n150 (netbook, similar to eeepc). So far everything seems perfect, except for this one thing.

When I am clicking the mouse while moving the cursour, the click event is delayed. This is extremely annoying when i try to to move windows, because i end up clicking the window behind the window i am trying to move and thereby changing focus.
