I have Xubuntu 12.04 installed on my computer and there is an annoying problem with my mouse cursor. When I start the computer, it is usually fine, but if I leave it for a while it goes in sleeping mode, as it should, and then, e.g., in an hour I wake it up from sleeping mode, the mouse cursor is not there. Actually, it is only invisible but it is still active.
Hello archers, ever since I used the Catalyst proprietary driver on my ATI Radeon HD5770 my mouse cursor keeps corrupting all the time. There is nothing in the logs and I wonder if there is any known fix to this problem. Here's a picture of how it looks. I am also using 2 screens and when I move the cursor to my other screen the cursor suddenly changes to its normal form.
Hi, I hope I'm posting this in the right place!
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 and have the following desktop environments installed on my system: Unity, Gnome Shell and Cinnamon. My favourite by far is Cinnamon, but I'm experiencing a very annoying problem with it.
After a while of using my computer, the system will suddenly becoming unresponsive.
Below is a screenshot from Chromium browser, running in Razor-Qt desktop,
In other DEs, the cursor is just normal, but here you can see it becomes a big X, anyone know how to fix that? The cursor theme is not broken, as it works for KDE4 and XFCE4
Is there any kind of command, or series of commands that will allow me to change the cursor icon to use an icon in a specified file? I'm using Linux Mint with Cinnamon (which is a fork of Gnome, so most things that work in Gnome will work with Cinnamon).
I looked into PyGtk and specifically gtk.gdk.Cursor, but it doesn't seem to do what I'm looking for.
I've got what I'm assuming is an odd variation of the old Nvidia disapeering mouse trick. Mouse cursor is fine when I log in. Fine sometimes for hours then I'll sit back down at the machine and it's gone. Some apps such as Glaxium can kill it even if I try to open the critter. I don't have 3d acceleration enabled yet.
My video card is Ati radeon HD 3730 i installed driver from official amd site. And after installing driver cursor becomes invisible.I triedOption "HWCursor" "... [by dark_religion]
I am using GNOME 3 and have configured an X cursor theme using gnome-tweak-tool. However, the default X cursor theme shows whenever I have the cursor inside a Java or Qt application. Gtk2/Gtk3 applications all use the correct cursor. How do I configure the X cursor to be used for Qt or Java applications?

Hi all. I have a netbook which uses the cedar view driver for its graphics(GMA 3600) and I can't get gdm, gnome or cinnamon to work. Xfce, lxde and SLiM work fine. When I do systemctl start gdm then the screen goes black and a watch icon appears which I can move. I then get errors about journalctl not being able to write log due to there being too many arguments.
