I am trying few features of CFENGINE 3.5 and stuck with a very basic issue.
I want to copy certain files which are kept in cfengine Policy hub to various cfengine clients. These files are spread into various locations and further cfengine should copy these files to targeted machines on same location as master server has.
How to do this ?
Specifically, if cfengine is used to download and install the most recent version of firmware, does some tests to see if a reboot is required, and the results indicate that the machine needs a restart, is this something that can be done from within cfengine or should that practice be avoided? If so, why?
i'm trying to use the cfengine version in the ubuntu repositories rather than download the cfengine-community repository, because the ubuntu repository has binaries for armhf. however, i'm having a difficult time bootstrapping.
I can't start cf-agent (cf-exec, cf-monitord, cf-serverd) now with following errors:
Starting cf-execd: /var/cfengine/bin/cf-execd: symbol lookup error: /var/cfengine/bin/cf-execd: undefined symbol: THIS_AGENT
I'm looking to deploy a configuration management system at my company and was wondering which config management was better: cfengine or Puppet? Pros/Cons? I'm looking to deploy the free version of each.
My machine resides in a corporate domain and have CFEngine installed, for automated configuration and maintenance purposes. Configuration is pulled automatically into few thousand computers from one place, and my machine is just one of those.
