Internode broadband price hikes push users to bundles

Internode has announced the prices it will charge for broadband services delivered over the NBN - when commercial services launch later this year on completion of trials - but claims that the NBN wholesale pricing model is flawed and will push prices up.

National broadband company, Internode, has called on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to force Telstra to end the “price squeeze” caused by its “anti-competitive broadband pricing.”

The ACCC has 'declared' the wholesale ADSL service, determining the price Telstra (and others) can charge wholesale customers for the service.

iiNet subsidiary, Internode has revised its ADSL2+ plans for its Easy Broadband, Easy Naked and Easy Bundle services to reduce prices, increase data quotas align data quotes with those of its NBN plans.

A day after launching its cheeky Telstra-targeted ad campaign, Internode has revamped prices for its ADSL services and introduced its first sub $30 plan.

National broadband company, Internode, has taken its first terabyte ADSL2+ plan to the market today with a launch-day sweetener of $30 off the originally announced price, at the same as delivering large data boosts for most of its other broadband plans.

With fierce competition in the broadband market, Internode has initiated a major overhaul of its broadband plans, introducing what it claims is its first truly unlimited quota business ADSL2+ plans with a combination of boosted data quotas and reduced prices.

The Australian Competition Tribunal (ACT) has once again rejected Telstra's bid for a $30 monthly price for the unbundled local loop service (ULLS) that underpins a large percentage of Australian broadband services and which is presently charged at about half this figure.

Telstra's been squeezing prices to its wholesale customers for almost a year now -- and the national competition regulator's taken zero action in response, according to Internode managing director Simon Hackett.
