AMD currently announce that the already shipped 8 and 12 cores processor Magny-Cours for OEM and selected manufacturers. Magny-Cours is a server CPU next generation from AMD. This new processor contains 2 cores of Istanbul. Because AMD does not have the original octal-core, the Magny-Cours 8 cores is built based on 2 Istanbul processors.

Just got a new ASUS Z8NA-D6C motherboard (http://www.asus.com/Server_Workstation/Server_Motherboards/Z8NAD6C/), but failed to start it with single Intel Xeon E5620 in CPU1 socket. I powered it with 650W and put memory, hdd, etc. When I try to power it from motherboard, it starts (psu and cpu fans are running, green led on mb is on) and then turns off.

Quad-core phones? Old news. All the manufacturers are doing that now. How about a 48-core CPU for smartphones and tablets? Intel’s looking to shake up the mobile market and make that kind of processing power a reality within the next ten years.
