Intel quad-core SoC processors detailed in leaked documents

ZTE announced a new partnership with Intel today, revealing that its future smartphones will run the upcoming Atom Z2580 processor. The Atom Z2580 debuted at Mobile World Congress and is a dual-core chip that can run up to 2.0GHz with Hyper-Threading support for better multi-tasking. This isn’t the first time that ZTE will use Intel Atom processors.

As Intel goes so goes Windows 8. The chipmaker just unveiled its roadmap for Window 8 tablets. At the core will be the latest generation of Atom processors: quad-core architecture at a 22nm size. Intel calls it the Bay Trail and expects to see it within shipping hardware in late 2013 — including Android tablets. With this latest chip, Intel is reconfirming its commitment to Windows 8.

The chart outlines 14 new desktop processors, ranging from a flagship 3.5GHz quad-core Core i7-4770K part to a more modest Core i5-4430S 2.7GHz quad-core part, all with updated on-board graphics.

Last year saw Intel’s “Core” processors go mainstream, 2011 now sees the second generation of Core processors arriving with cool new features, from ever faster performance, better built-in HD and 3D graphics, quicker video transcoding capabilities and support for wireless transmission of video to HDTVs.
