Ok, so the 20-intel.conf edit appears to have done the trick after a reboot (or several I lost track).I think I had installed the intel-git driver from AUR during testing, once I removed this and went back to all stock with the 20-intel.conf things are just peachy.Hope this helps anyone in future.
