when i turned on my pc my power supply made a weird scratchy noise (im pretty sure it was the power supply). so i got a new power supply and when i try to turn on my pc nothing happens.
I have a Lenovo Y460p running Ubuntu 12.04 (64-bit). The battery does charge normally, but unplugging the power supply only very briefly shows the correct battery indicator. After about 1 second, it reverts to the charging indicator.
I just got a new (Refurbished) Dell Dimension E520 Power Supply after my last one broke... All working fine I install an update for NVidia and install some new RAM (512 MB DDR2, I'm sure its compatible), When I restart I get this really annoying noise coming from the power supply, I tried removing the RAM And restarting, Still there... Its VERY Annoying, Also my 2nd monitor is very green.
A few day ago, i decide to an upgrade Radeon HD 5450, to my desktop, and yet it worked on running ubuntu 12.04 LTS with 3D. but i look at Radeon HD 5450, which is requirement 400 watts power supply, and my desktop is running 240 power supply, so is it fine with that, or should i got a new power supply?
I was surprised not to find this question addressed before. I want to upgrade my graphics card, so I was warned that I would need a better power supply. I have an old Acer Aspire M1610, which has a 250W PSU, I intended to buy a cheap 450@, but the salesman persuaded me I needed better than that, so I got a Raidmax RX-630SS.
I have to replace a very old UPS. We've got a new one. I'm not really a sys admin, but have to act the part, as the previous one left and, well there's no one else. He had it set up with 2 UPS's, and split the power supplies from each server (5 total) so that 1 power supply went to 1 UPS, and the other power supply went to the second UPS. We've got the new UPS in place.
So I just built a new comp, I bought an intel DG41TY motherboard coupled with an intel Core 2
Today I started to upgrade to ubuntu 12 when I accidentally tripped on the power supply cable and the pc shut down.
Now it displays two options. To start normal or in recovery mode but nothing works...
Do I have to format?
Several months ago my ubuntu (10.04) started to freeze some minutes after boot. I didn't reboot, just get stuck (mouse, keyboard, etc.)
One day it didn't boot at all. It was dead. I tested the power supply and it was broken. I changed it (for a more powerful one) and both problems are gone. Since 3 weeks, the pc is working fine.
