Installing Wifi driver for previous kernel version in Ubuntu 12.04

http://askubuntu.com – I need to use a CAD program that only accepts kernel version 2, so I compiled* the latest kernel (2.6.39.4) before turning to 3.0, and kept the Ubuntu installation 12.04. That worked well, except for the WiFi card that does not work. Using lspci, I get that my wifi card is 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation WiFi Link 5100 I've already downloaded the Intel 5000 microcode and put it into /lib/firmware, but can't load iwlwifi or iwlagn with modprobe. When I run modprobe -l | grep iwl there only appear iwllegacy, iwl3xxx and iwl4xxx as available modules. What should I do to load the (HowTos)
