I've just started on Ubuntu. Need help to install Voipbuster. Have downloaded linphone 3.2.1 but haven't got the foggiest idea what to do with it. Anybody out there who has done Voipbuster? Please help.

I have a very slow internet connection so therefore I'd like to use the G729 audio codec with Linphone and Voipbuster (actually I'd prefer to use Ekiga but this isn't available for Quantal Quetzal 12.10 and has no G729). Apparently it should be possible to use G729 with Linphone, see here. I downloaded the tar.gz file and followed installation instructions.
Hello, I just tried to install linphone from the repo and it seemed to work well but I cannot launch it (running it from the console gives me the result command not found, using the KDE launcher tells me that KDEInit could not launch it as it wasn´t able to find the linphone executable).
Trying to find help to make my viopbuster account work on linphone has been a nightmare.
Most threats are old an with no solution, or the program does not look the way it is described any more.
Some people say it works, but they are at work and will post the settings once at home then they never come back !

So I am attempting to get linphone up and running for a research project. I am a beginner with Fedora and fairly inexperienced with computers. I was wondering if there was anyone with a vast knowledge of linphone who could help me get set up.
Although linphone connects with other sip users, it fails to use the microphone rendering it entirely unuseable. I tried to figure out what the ridiculous problem might be, but failed to find anything relevant both on the net and linphone's configuration file.
Does anyone know what might be escaping my observation?
