I am wondering if I can use the same usb stick that i store my bitlocker keys on to install ubuntu on. My Harddrive is completely Encrypted for Windows Bitlocker and In order to boot my computer I need my USB stick since I do not have a TPM supported machine. How would I go about installing ubuntu on my stick and still make it readable when called on by bitlocker? if this is even possible.
Hi - can anyone suggest how to proceed in this interesting situation?
I wanted to try out the CrunchBang distro, so I downloaded it and put the install files onto an 2GB USB stick. Didn't work; won't boot.
Hey guys I'm really wanting to try Ubuntu and Linux mint to see which I like more to use in place of windows 8 on my laptop...
I downloaded both today and turned my USB stick into a pen drive using the app recommended to install from USB on Ubuntu.com but I was wondering if I could both Ubuntu and mint on the same USB stick so I don't have to keep erasing my memory stick..

Hey,
I wanted to install Ubuntu-9.10 in my laptop, currently which has both windows and ubuntu-9.04. I'm trying to make it fully into linux box.
I downloaded ubuntu-9.10 from ubuntu site and with 3rd party software( sorry forgot the name ) copied the ubuntu folder to the usb stick.
Installing from a hard drive requires some work. Do you have a USB stick at hand? You could easily create a bootable USB stick with the Crunchbang ISO on it and install from that media. If you are using Windows, try the LinuxLive Installer (lili) -- when you are Linux user already, use the dd tool to copy the (hybrid) ISO to the stick.
I know that there is a lot of software and even in Windows or Linux you can just use commands to do it, but all these alternatives needs to FORMAT the usb stick.
What I'm looking for is some alternative to create an usb booteable stick without the need of formatting it.
That's because I usually have an usb stick that I use to transport files and everything, and I don't like having to backup thes

I am planning to buy a new laptop and as I'm a Ubuntu Fanatic. I'd like to know whether the procedure of installing Ubuntu on a MAC is as simple and straight-forward as it is on a Windows machine. If it is then I'll go with MAC otherwise I'll stick to Lenovo.
I'm not very advance in Linux stuff -)
