I need to use ubuntu for a class project but don't want to have it installed on my computer. I was told I could burn it to a disc and run it from there. How do I do that?
I put the windows installer on the disc already but when I go to download ubuntu from that program, it asks me to make a password and user name and the only option it gives for location is my C:\ drive.
ubuntu wont boot up after I installed Windows 8. get this error
Windows Failed to start. "
A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
Hi. So I am not a first-time Linux user and I have dual-booted in the past. But today I wanted to install Ubuntu 12.04 alongside Windows 7, but when I restarted my computer with the Ubuntu live disc, it just went straight to Windows. I set the CD Drive to be the first to load on my BIOS already.
I have an HPE h8-1360t with dual boot windows 8 and windows 7. I just now downloaded and installed wubi. Now when I try to boot ubuntu for the first time I get "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

I am doing a fresh install on my computer so I got a new hard drive and booted off the 32 bit installer cd. when i get to the 3rd screen it does not see any partitions. So i boot into the live disc and use gpartion to create the partitions manually but that still didn't work.

Hi, I am new to this. my son has installed Ubuntu 10.04 on his computer and is very happy with it and has suggested that I should try it myself on one of my computers. So I borrowed a disc from him and ran Ubuntu from the DVD ROM drive and ran it to try it, that is I didn't install it.
i have tried several times to install ubuntu using wubi, i can't use a disc as i have a notebook computer and there is no optical drive.
the download and installation all seem to work well but whenever i try to boot ubuntu at the windows 7/ubuntu menu it comes up with this error screen.
I have used both the C: drive and the D: drive to install Ubuntu several times each, it's always unsuccessful.
So recently, my windows installation on my computer got corrupted somehow so I decided to do a full wipe and install Ubuntu. After having problems and errors appear with using the installer on a dvd a burned while attempting to create partitions, I went ahead and used parted magic also burned onto a dvd to completely fill the drive with zeros.
I recently got a Dell ultrabook and was trying to install Ubuntu on it.
