trying to install ubuntu on a external usb 3 500gyg harddrive for a netbook acer amd c-60 1ghz with 4 gyg or ram 64 bits on windows 7 no2.
When i install the iso with the universal usb installer and dowloaded the ubuntu-12.04.1-alternate-amd64 iso file.
A friend dropped off a Netbook and asked if I could install Ubuntu on a 128gig SSD he just purchased. I had to install the SSD first.
The SSD was an external and was in it's own case.
All I had to do was remove it from the case, install it in the Netbook and take the Hard Drive out of the Netbook and install it in the external case, and do a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04.
I'm having trouble to install Ubuntu. I use a ASUS Eee 1015pem netbook. Recently, I my netbook got wet. I had it inside my backback and all my things got wet. The netbook boots up fine but it will not load the OS. I downloaded ubuntu onto my external hard drive and changed the settings in my Bios to boot from a removable device. Nothing happens.
I have used the program "Universal USB Installer" to 'save' the ubuntu on my USB stick.
So far - good.
When I boot the it, I get these options , but on a totally black screen and I can't use them.
I choose to install, then it goes to completely black screen and nothing happens.. No install, nothing.
After some consideration, I decided to install Backtrack 5 R3 on my spare hard drive. I was able to boot via the live dvd, enter bt5, and install bt5 on my external hard drive(was a full format then clean install). After restarting, I changed my bios settings to read the external hard drive first, it went through the HP splash screen and then hung on a black screen.
I've been using the netbook remix 9.04 Jaunty on the Acer AspireOne. Everything works great but recently I started using an external monitor/keyboard.
At seemingly random times, the external video goes black. I can often toggle the built-in lcd to come back on using the Fn-screen key combo but nothing seems to fix the external video except a reboot.
I have two desktop computers, a Dell running ubuntu 10.04, and an Acer running win 7.
i've been an apple and windows-user all my life, and now i bought me an netbook (acer one aspire 722) and wanted to install ubuntu (i have no experiance with any linux systems at all). i read a lot of forums but havent found my problem anywhere so i hope to find some help here.
I need to install ubuntu from an USB drive. I downloaded unetbootin to creat a bootable usb- drive with my mac.
Hi guys,
So I was looking into how to install Windows 7 from an external USB hard drive. I found a few different programs that allow you to do this by extracting the Windows 7 image file to the external hard drive in such a way that when you boot the computer up, it will boot from the external hard drive and bring you to the Windows 7 installation process.
