I am new to Linux. I have recently installed Fedora 17 on my Laptop in dual boot mode with windows 7. For printing I have to restart my system in Windows 7. Please suggest:
1. Is there way a to print using Win 7 installed printers from fedora 17.
2.
I want to set up a printer with the command line only in fedora 12. I have been searching for a few days now.
Is their a way to avoid using the
system-config-printer gui? I searched through the fedora docs and their seems to be no information available. johnny
I have attached a new printer, HP Laserjet Pro 400 to a Linux system running Fedora 14. The printer is not automatically recognized by the system.
So I downloaded hplip-3.12.10a in source form from the HP site. Went through the usual configure-make-make install process.

I have an Ubuntu 12.04 64bit fresh install from minimal instalation disk without any desktop (I am using it as a server).
I am trying to install my HP G55 OfficeJet printer, or rather to make it work.
I've cups instaled and hplip 3.12.9
The printer does not work. It fails with "/usr/lib/cups/backend/hp failed"
Something weird is happening though.

I have a hp officejet t65 printer whit LPT1 connection.
I add the printer but I am not able to print when a file is sent to be print the file remain stacked in the printer jobs list and after a wile it despair, and the file is not printed.
anyone pleas tell me how to configure this printer, I also use and hplip but , I don`t have a option for LPT.
I've started having multiple printer problems since upgrading to 11.2.
Top 1/2 inch of page missing occasionally.
Printer stops and needs root authorization to restart.
Jams when printing from GIMP.

I am running Fedora 17-64 on a desktop and have an HP Officejet 6500 multifunction printer.
Today I tried to install xsane to enable the scanner.
The Application Manager shows HPLIP 3.12.10-4 installed and o the next line 3.12.11-1 as available.
A search on the sane pkgs shows only 3 installed and similar multiple versions for some packages.
Xsane is not and will not install with either the App M
is it possible to install a netwerk printer, while not connected to the netwerk where the printer is?
I installed opensuse on my sisters desktop and I want to install the printer that she and my parents are using at home. Is this possible?
