Preface: This is a howto, not a question.
Today, after beating my brains out trying to install Office 2007 with Wine 1.4 in Precise, I ended up resorting to using PlayOnLinux. What I learned about PlayOnLinux is that it makes installing things a dream, but it makes the general usability of those things an absolute nightmare.
I installed Microsoft Office through Playonlinux and i want to add a spell checker for my language and the installer is a .msi file "http://stava.fo/download/stavarin_2_1.msi"
i have tried running the .msi file with wine but i'm getting this error
"The program msiexec.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close.
Although there are many alternatives out there, I'm not prepared to get away from Outlook yet, and I have many clients I'd like to switch over to Ubuntu but they need Outlook and won't switch because of this one thing holding them back.
Currently I have Ubuntu 11.10, Wine 1.3.35 and PlayOnLinux 4.0.14
I tried to get Wine 1.3.9 which apparently supports Office 2010 but I can't get that to install e
Looking at potential ways to deploy Office 2013 via GPO.
First and most obvious way is to run a startup script which calls the Office 2013 setup.exe.
First the problem, then what I'm currently attempting
I'm running 64 bit ubuntu 12.04. I just bought a copy (with disc) of Office Student 2010. I've tried installing w/ wine and playonlinux. With wine, I get past the license key, it says ok, starts to install, then 'an error has been encountered' - and that's it.
Hi,
Does one need to install any thing else besides Libre Office Writer, Office Calc & Office Impress?
Thanks.
i recently installed Ubuntu 11.10 which of course comes with libre office.
I'm used to excel 2010 (and lots of conditional formatting options) and i thought libre office was great for everything I'd ever have to do except for the conditional formatting..
I love Kingsoft office application, and i'm using it on my office's win os computer and android because for my opinion, this office more compatible with ms office 2003/2007 than openoffice / libreoffice.
Unfortunately, Kingoffice for linux only available for chinese version (called: WPS Office, beta version when i'm writing this thread)
Searching with google, finally we can change to english
I have installed MS Office 2010 using PlayOnLinux. i want to associate the .docx files to Playonlinux. I've follow the workaround on this thread: how to set file associations with PlayOnLinux?
but I have still the problem, that Word will open clean but not the Document that I select. Any idea?
