Hi everyone,
I have a computer that will only be running as a guitar effects processor. I'm running FC17 KDE with an RT kernel from CCRMA. My goal is to get my audio latency down as much as possible by disabling as many un-needed processes as I can.
after disabling a bunch of services to trim start up memory and boot time, I find that dwm, mate, mate with compiz, and openobx all work the same. the gnome shell, however, will not start up.
When you install Alfresco, it gives you an option of having it installed as a service or not.
If you install it as a service, the service starts up on booting but since it's using Tomcat it's too heavy to leave as a background program.

I'm a Solaris admin. I don't know how to check whether a service is online or not in Linux.

I am only advertising an NFS share plus the "model", and I don't want to install extra services on the Server unless I have to, ie netatalk, as it is used solely for NFS exports.
Currently there is no entry in Finder under "Shared" with below config of Avahi.
serveradmin@FILESERVER:/etc/avahi/services$ cat nfs.service
<?xml version="1.0" standalone='no'?><!--*-nxml-*-->

Hello,
How does systemd shut down the system?
We'are going to join 2 (two) IIS7 web-servers into NLB with the same web-service published (2 instances of the same web-service one per web-server).
Do I understand correctly, that NLB will work for my web-services, deligating web-requests to one or another instance?
How will NLB work if one of web-service instance becomes unavailable (i.e.
Hi,
