http://www.ubuntux.org – I'm having trouble installing Ubuntu. I've installed 8.10 before as a dual boot on my machine (Windows XP3) on a 120Gb USB hard disk. My system is set up as : First Hard drive, partitioned to give C: (on which I put Windows XP) D: all my data. 2nd Hard drive: E: a 120Gb usb hard drive, partitioned half and half to give space for backups and for Ubuntu. I had a Windows crash a week ago, had to reinstall Windows on Drive C and although the previous version of Ubuntu still existed on the 120 Gb usb drive, I couldn't get the option to boot into it at startup time. I therefore decided to reinstall Ubuntu (9.04), so I used Aesus partitioner to clean off the old 8.10 version. read more (Distributions)

I just installed Ubuntu onto my hard drive from a USB drive. When I reached the partitions screen, I noticed it listed the full hard drive as "free space" even though I already had Windows 7 installed.

I knew I had about 50 GB of free space on the hard drive, so I partitioned sda1 for 35 GB and installed Ubuntu onto it, and partitioned sda2 for 4 GB of swap space.

I've been trying to help a friend reinstall Windows XP after she decided she wasn't ready for Ubuntu, but when I boot her Lenovo T61p from the Windows XP install disk, it complains that there is no hard drive. But the hard drive is fine, and will still boot Ubuntu.

I have a 1TB hard disk running windows 7 on my Dell Laptop. I partitioned it into two drives one having 900 GB and the other drive having 100 GB. I installed Ubuntu alongside windows 7 and ran it successfully. The dual boot also worked for the first two times but after that when I opened my Windows drive in ubuntu it showed no files.

I've had Ubuntu as the sole OS on my desktop for a couple years. Updated it to Precise soon after it came out. Today I decided to try dual booting to Windows 8. I bought a new, separate hard drive (SATA) to install Windows on. My Ubuntu installation is on my older PATA disk.

I disconnected the Ubuntu drive completely when installing Windows.

When I reboot my computer, and enter the boot sequence menu in BIOS, there isn't even an entry for my second hard drive.

sda - Old 1TB drive, MBR, houses my Windows 7 install sdb - New 2TB drive, GPT houses Ubuntu 12.10

Ubuntu installs to my new drive no problem, but I can't boot into Windows, I get a "EFI File Path not valid".

hey guys, this issue has been driving me crazy for the past 4 days and i cant figure out what to do.

Have Ubuntu installed on a 1TB SATA 3 Hard Drive. Also have Windows 7 installed on a separate 1TB SATA 3 Hard Drive. Unplugged Windows Hard Drive before installing Ubuntu as previous versions of Linux always destroyed my Windows installation. What will happen when I plug in the Hard Drive with Windows 7?

I have a computer with 3 hard drives on it. I have Ubuntu 12.04 on my newest and biggest hard drive and Windows XP on my 2nd hard drive and a old version of Ubuntu 7.04 on the third hard drive.

Everything was working perfectly and I was using Grub to choose between the different systems.
