Hi all, I just installed backtrack on my laptop (didnt install bootloader at the end), and I want to manage this distro boot from the boot partition (with Arch owns and grub2 is installed). I simply installed os-prober and then ran grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg and the backtrack installation was succesfully detected.

OS : Windows 7 x86
RAM : 4 GB ( 2x2 )
HDD : 500 GB ( C: 74.2 GB, D: 391 GB )

I was having windows 8 , vista , and Backtrack 5 on my laptop
unfortunately , i've removed windows vista by mistake
and now i can't boot to windows 8
but i can still boot to Backtrack 5
please note that windows 8 is in my enternal hdd
while BT5 is in my external hdd
and when i try to boot windows 8
it says no operating system ...

I have been trying to find some good information on how to install backtrack to my external drive but there isnt much about it. I have asked at the backtrack forums but nothing from them yet.
I decided to ask here since backtrack is based on ubuntu.
Basically I want to install backtrack on my external drive. I have a new one with 1 TB and want to use all of it for backtrack.

But then I remembered my friend told me the plastic of his computer melted this way, so i opened it again. It put it on power save, and somehow the installation was interrupted. I have a windows 7 64-bit machine in which I have installed VirtualBox and decided to install BackTrack. The installation finished fine, but when it asked me to "please remove installation media and close the tray (if any) then press ENTER" VirtualBox crashes.
