Installation hangs up when starting sound card

http://forums.opensuse.org – Hi, I'm trying to install OpenSuse 11.3, everything went fine untill last step : configuring hardware. So my install hangs up at the point "starting sound card" (well it is in french, but it should be this translation in english). My sound card is a classical realtek hd audio card (from a laptop toshiba x200). In the terminal(/dev/tty1) I can see that it is hanging at Starting Yast2. I had no pb with my previous installs regarding the sound card (with openSuse 11.2 and earlier). I don't have any idea on what to do to have this step working, or at least have th (Distributions)

Hi. I just installed opensuse 11.2 64 bits KDE 4.
Everything went well except for sound. The starting and end sound of opensuse (default sound) can be heard throught he speakers. However if I try to play music or flash player, I will get no sound. Kmixer did not show any channel muted. And the card is recognized (XonarD2).

As the in built sound card on my laptop (an ergo microlite 411) died, I got a replacement usb sound card, an Aureon Dual from Terratec, which is meant to be compatible. So far I've managed to get the laptop to acknowledge the presence of the sound card when plugged in, but there's no sound coming out? Any suggestions? I've been trying to fix this on an insomnia kick, but no joy.

First things first.... I am a total noob with linux. And I am very sorry if I am not posting in the right place. I am trying desperately to get my sound card working but with no look upto now. Card is recognized in hardware information in Yast control centre, however when i try and play anything there is no sound.

I am running the latest version Ubuntu and I have installed a new sound card. Its a Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio. After the install I rebooted and everything worked perfectly.

Sound was working perfect. i run OpenSUSE 11.2 w/KDE 4.3.4
Its a laptop Dell Latitude D830.
