I am having problems to install Ubuntu 12.04. It just gives some panic error. I was running on 8.04 (dual boot with XP). About a year ago I have tried also but gave up after many attempts. Upgrade from 8.04 crashed with a similar error after several hours.
I note that also Fedora and Archlinux encounter installation problems.
On a new Asus X54C WIN7 laptop I am trying to install 12.10 desktop 64 bit. In the documentation ( http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/...desktop-latest ) step 4 'Allocate drive space' (installation type box) the first option is 'Install Ubuntu alongside Windows 7'.
I'm trying to run a program that is only available for 32-bit Linux in a .deb package. I've already installed ia32-libs and multiarch-support, however the program requires the library libXxf86dga.so.1 which isn't included in ia32-libs.
