I'm running Windows XP with all the latest patches.
I downloaded Wubi to my computer, installed it and ran wubi. Wubi downloaded the Ubuntu (I assume it was the 12.10 release) file and extracted the Ubuntu files. Next, it asked to restart the computer.
Hi,
I would like to install Ubuntu 12.04 on my computer from Windows using Wubi, but I have a problem with it. Firstly I mount a CD image in a virtual drive via Daemon tool. Next I start Wubi, fill all installation fields, and then I click next. Then Wubi starts to extract files, etc.

All,
I'm posting from work, so I'm not in front of my home PC right now--but I do have a wubi question (since I'm about to try using wubi to install Ubuntu on a computer here at work (that computer has no optical drive and I have no thumb drive to hand, thus the need for wubi), and depending on outcome I'll try it at home):
Specifically, should I devote a separate drive to Ubuntu, or should
I'm using wubi at the moment and my pc is really slow, is it worth deleting XP and formatting it to Ubuntu? Or (trying) to reset XP to factory settings?
PS: I have over 40 GB HARD DRIVE and hate having xp on my computer...
Thanks,
DJ Porter
MODS DON'T CLOSE THREAD YET PLEASE
My computer (Sony Vaio VPCF22S1E) has Inter Core i7 (2GHz) processor, 8GB RAM (details) . There are 2 operation systems on my PC . Windows 7 and Ubuntu. My computer's performance was great, a few months ago. But now it's very slow. Windows is faster than Ubuntu, but still Windows is really slow, too.
Actually, i'm not using Windows 7.
How do I fix the computer after forcedshutdown while on WUBI
So, I was trying to download Ubuntu by Wubi, but the screensaver came on and the mouse and the keyboard didn't work. So, I turned my laptop off without any thinking by mistake.
Then, my computer says that it can't find a operating system, so it wouldn't turn on.
How do I restore it to Windows XP?
