Install package from debian stable in testing/unstable environment

http://serverfault.com – I'm currently running Debian testing and would like to install a package only available in the stable repositories. (I'm surprised I haven't come across this issue before) Is the best course of action to add a stable source repository to my source.list and use apt-get build-dep PACKAGE_NAME apt-get -b source PACKAGE_NAME as I would if I were building a package from testing/unstable for a stable install? I could download the .deb directly and use dpkg to manually install it, but I prefer to have apt build from source whenever I find a package in a different Debian release. (HowTos)
