Mplayer is a marvellous media player. Not just the fact that it can play almost all audio/video formats, it even provides you with a powerful command line. You can handle every feature of Mplayer through the terminal.
I am using the "-vo caca" option in order to be able to play a video in the terminal. However, mplayer is opening up a window in which the video runs. Is there any way to make it play in the console window (to have it filled)? I am using Linux Mint 16.
Since recently I'm enjoying the i3 tiled window manager. I did install the XFCE4 Terminal since it gives greater control over my terminal look and feel however but I have noticed an issue with starting GUI based applications.
When I execute a GUI based application I want it take over the current terminal window.
