With 11.10 I used to download the latest ati driver for my duel graphics Radeon card problem.
With 12.04 the graphics problem is resolved it seems.
But the Ubuntu driver on my Laptop is burning.
So I wanted to install the ati driver to see if it would be better.
In the old days when the laptop would not run without the ati driver I simply ran recovery mode and it promoted me for my user and passw
I got a HP laptop with ATI Radeon 4500 HD mobility series. I installed ubuntu 12.04, but noticed that the OS recognized my graphics as VESA: M92. Is this normal becuase i read somewhere that VESA: M92 doesn't give out the full performance of the graphics card. If so can I install a new driver that performs better?

I get Standard graphics at start. But when I install the graphical driver through the additional driver it install the main driver but update installation failed.
Then I can't see my standard effects too.
