Hi All,
I am trying to install Linux Fedora 12 in duo boot with Windows XP.
I burned ISO image to DVD and install Fedora 12 from DVD.
During installation, I select country, language then Fedora displays a list of drivers (looks like network driver).
I hit F12 and select install from DVD drive but Fedora says Fedora not on the DVD.
Is it possible to select package groups, individual packages, or a combination of the two during an install? Fedora has those options of customizing software selection in a simple GUI which I find easy to follow.
I have been having trouble with firefox3.5 on my x86_64 FC11 install for a month now...firefox freezes my pc. So I used yum to remove firefox. Now I'm wondering if I could just use another rpm for firefox...could I use the 32 bit version safely? I found the rpm and started doing a local install with yum but it wants these dependencies:
The default GCC package available in the Fedora 16 repositories is gcc-4.6. I need to install gcc-4.5 on my system.
I downloaded the packages from the kijo repository, but when I try to install them it shows that a newer libstdc++4.6 is installed. If I try to uninstall libstdc++4.6 it tries to uninstall the system itself! (Almost every package in the system).
Hi,
I am new at this forum, so I hope I am in the right place.
This is the issue.
Testing crunchbang for a month or so.I am a complete beginner in all matters linux but have (quick-)tested some distributions like ubuntu, l.mint, debian, fedora, etc. and must say that crunchbang is the only one where I don't get the impression of a bloated system or a clumsy, non-ergonomic enviroment. Strangely it has more or less nothing I need to remove...

Hello friends,
I have bought a HP-g6-2230sa laptop, which comes with win8.
I have managed to install fedora18 in it.
But the problem is I cannot make it to boot f18 by default. The usual process to boot to fedora is: start the machine-> be very fast to press F9-> select Fedora (or else it will go to os boot manager and will boot win8).
