I have used sakis3g to connect to internet as network manager is not able to make a connection although it recognizes the modem.But the problem is many software including pidgin and software center doesn't know that computer is already connected to internet and I am having problems installing software especially the debs I downloaded.
1) I can't install g++ in software center.
2) I can install other programs. For example, after I found g++ can't be installed, I installed chrome for test purpose through software center, and it worked!
3) g++ can be installed in the terminal via apt-get install. Only the software center way didn't work.
Who can tell me why this happens?
Whenever I tried to install VLC from software center it shows a message check your Internet connection.
But at that time, I am still online
HI
I download a trial version of Crossover and started to install it using Ubuntu Software Center. As the install was about to finish it stopped and would not complete. I switched of and restated the Software Center but it is still trying to carry on installing.
I'm confused. Somewhere I have missed something in upgrading to 12.04.
When I click applications > software center and try to install an apt, I can not because I am not root.
i had some problem with ubuntu software center so i uninstalled it then reinstalled
using following codes
sudo apt-get install software-center
i was getting the message as follows.......
Package software-center is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

I am testing 12.04.1 64 Bit and tried to install the Teamspeak package via Software Center:
After clicking on "More Info" since the "Install" button was not there I got the following:
After doing a bit of more search, in Synaptic I found that the package does appear but it mentions it is for 32 Bit only:
So why does it show on Software Center in the first place if it is only for 32 Bit.
I am running Ubuntu 12.04 dual boot on an Vista Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. Everything was running smoothly until I tried to install Cheese through the Software Center. After the attempted installation of Cheese, the app would not load and any attempt to open Software Center to load would cause it to crash.
New install of Ubuntu 12.04.1. Start Ubuntu Software Center. Edit menu > Software Sources > Other > tick the Canonical Partners sources. Click close.
Search for Skype.
