I have been trying to find some good information on how to install backtrack to my external drive but there isnt much about it. I have asked at the backtrack forums but nothing from them yet.
I decided to ask here since backtrack is based on ubuntu.
Basically I want to install backtrack on my external drive. I have a new one with 1 TB and want to use all of it for backtrack.
Hello BackTrack Team,
This is my first time making a thread but sorry if it's in the wrong section or I did anything wrong.
I'm currently experiencing a problem with installing BackTrack 5 R3.
My system specification :
CPU : Intel Pentium G860 Dual Core 3 GHz
OS : Windows 7 x86
RAM : 4 GB ( 2x2 )
HDD : 500 GB ( C: 74.2 GB, D: 391 GB )
Graphic card : AMD Radeon 6670 HD 1 GB
im new to backtrack 5 and want to try this.
Acer 4755G i5 NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M with NVIDIA Optimus Technology 2g with 4g RAM
OS WINDOW 7 64bit
first i download the backtrack 5 (BT5-KDE-64.iso) at the backtrack 5 website and Install Backtrack 5 Live to a 4gig USB
using unetbootin.when i reboot and booted the usb.
As title, I want to know how to install Backtrack 5 to USB. I have a 16GB USB. Should I Split partition, one for install BackTrack, and one for daily use? Note that I want Full Install, like install Ubuntu to HDD, not live. Because LiveUSB, when shutdown, every documents on that session will be deleted. So I want to know how to install Full Backtrack 5 to USB, and can boot on other Machine.
I'm not really sure im allowed to post here... but im giving it a shot.
I recently downloaded the De-ICE 2.100 ISO file, and am trying to set it up.
When I run netdiscover on BackTrack 5 R2, I get IP's 192.168.2.100 and 2.101 for the De-ICE machine, except none of them are "up", according to ping and nmap.
I have used previous releases of Backtrack in the past, and have installed Backtrack 5 R1 on a laptop about 6 months ago. Now I have decided to
make the leap to installing Backtrack on my desktop and dual booting with windows 7.
Hey backtrack community,
I need some help installing the i3 window manager on backtrack 5 r3. I have apt-get installed i3-wm, but I don't know what to put in the xinitrc file. I have read the tutorial for installing fluxbox on backtrack, but I am still lost. Any help would be awesome!
