http://www.linuxquestions.org – What I want to know about inodes and can't find anywhere :scratch: How does the system assign the "inode" value to whatever ? Is it a one-up number and if so, where does the system keep track of this ? Are file inodes based on the inode of the directory it lives in ? And are pids of executables created based on the inode of that executable ? Thanks, Donna (HowTos)
