If you use both Linux and Twitter, you should surely tweet this, following the footsteps of other giants like Broadcom, Nvidia and Samsung, Twitter has joined the Linux Foundation confirming the growing stature Linux in the world of dedicated web servers and global data centers.

How important is open source to the cloud? If you ask the Linux Foundation, you’ll be told it’s absolutely essential — which is, of course, exactly what an organization such as the Linux Foundation would say. But now the group has hard data to back up these claims.

Close on the heels of a recent agreement with Citrix, the Big Data and storage company Inktank continues to expand its partner network. Its latest deals, with Metacloud and Canonical, promise to enhance its importance in the open source channel as demand for Big Data solutions continues to explode.
