http://forums.fedoraforum.org – First time Fedora user. I thought I would share my initial experiences with the distro (32-bit): - burned a copy of the LiveCD to a DVD - rebooted PC with DVD in drive (Hp dvd writer dvd630) and received the following error (after about a third of the way loading the Fedora milk filling nipple progress indicator): boot has failed, sleeping forever - inserted the same DVD into the other DVD drive (stock, basic model) everything works fine now - installed Fedora to the hard-drive. No issues at all. Works great and was fast. got a notice that some 857 packages needed upgrading - went to install install the updates from software update gui and got and error dialog: Error Type: <class 'yum.Errors.RepoError'> Error Value: Error getting repository data for installed, repository not found etc... - worked around this by using su yum clean all yum update this updated all packages without any problem - next, I went to install the Nvidia driver from the Nvidia (for 8600) error: cc not installed - typed cc on the command line, and it was installed automatically (pretty cool) error: linux headers not found - searched for linux headers in yum repository via command line and installed them error: version of gcc doesn't match version of gcc used to build kernel - found the nvidia driver in the yum repo and installed it that way instead. finally worked - had a few other updates (next day) and used the software update gui successfully (although the package sizes said 4 GB each) Thanks.
