For those of you that use the infinality freetype patches, there is good news.
He has the Fedora 18 repo up and running, so you can install and use the infinality patches on F18.
To install the repository definition:
Code:
su -
(root password)
rpm -Uvh http://www.infinality.net/fedora/linux/infinality-repo-1.0-1.noarch.rpm
and to install the freetype patches:
Code:
yum i
Yeah, remove fonts.conf and Xdefaults. Use Infinality, just install freetype2-infinality and fontconfig-infinality. To set them you have to set a rendering style with this command (Second one, that is Infinality, works very well):sudo /etc/fonts/infinality/infctl.sh setstyleand choose suitable rendering settings from this file:/etc/profile.d/infinality-settings.shYou have to edit end of the file.

There is a PPA https://launchpad.net/~no1wantdthisname/+archive/ppa?field.series_filter= with patches Infinality оn freetype and cairo for 11.04 11.10 12.04 12.10 13.04 But the updates are done only 12.10 and 13.04 At 12.10 and 13.04 patches imposed only on freetype
I want to update the packages. How to impose these patches ?
So in the meantime I've been able to acquire some win7 installation media and now I've installed all major font packages (ttf-win7-fonts, ttf-mac-fonts, ttf-google-webfonts). I'm still not sure why there is both /etc/profile.d/infinality-settings.sh and /etc/fonts/infinality/infinalty.conf. I guess I'm supposed to set the same "styles" in both of them.
Hi,
I am experiencing a conflict between the freetype-infinality package and programs that utilize ghostscript (e.g., gsview, evince, epstopdf, etc.).
It seems that Infinality also disables bitmap fonts in the 52-infinality.conf file. The solution is to edit the following section in /etc/fonts/conf.avail/52-infinality.conf<!-- Reject bitmap fonts in favour of Truetype, Postscript, etc.
First of all! Hi! I'm new here.
My problem is that i'm trying elementary OS and the fonts are no that smooth like in Ubuntu stock or how i got 'em in Arch when i installed some patches.
I'm trying to install Infinality patch but i can't get it to work!
Hello everyone. This is my second time running an Arch setup, so the installation went pretty smoothly this time. It's good to be back Anyways, I'm having some trouble setting up my fonts nicely. I followed the Font Configuration guide in the wiki, and decided to go with the Infinality patched setup. The Infinality rendering is just awesome and everything is as crisp as I want it.
This is what my fonts look like in Ubuntu with subpixel smoothing slight hinting with RGB. I am still trying everything to get my fonts to look like that in arch linux. I downloaded the packages for infinality and also the font renderings. I think it maybe because of the libre office package in arch linux.
